Sending a postcard is one of the most affordable ways to put something personal in the mail — especially when compared to greeting cards or packages.
But how much does it actually cost?
Let’s break it down.
📬 Domestic (U.S.) Postcard Rates
As of 2024, the USPS rate for sending a standard-sized postcard is:
🟢 $0.53 — with a Postcard Stamp
or
🟢 $0.73 — with a regular Forever Stamp
✅ What counts as a standard postcard?
To qualify for the lower $0.53 rate, your postcard must be:
- At least 3.5 x 5 inches
- No more than 4.25 x 6 inches
- Between 0.007 and 0.016 inches thick (aka cardstock)
If your card is too big, too small, or oddly shaped, it’ll require a Forever Stamp instead.
🌍 International Postcard Rates
To send a postcard from the U.S. to another country, you’ll need:
🌐 $1.65 — Global Forever Stamp
This rate applies to any country, whether you’re mailing to Canada or Cambodia. Just be sure to print the country name in ALL CAPS on the address.
🛠 What About Printing Costs?
If you're printing and mailing your own postcard, factor in:
- The card itself (blank postcards usually cost $0.10–$0.50 each)
- Ink or printing fees
- Your time and effort
- A stamp
That can total $1–$2 per card, even if you DIY it.
